The Nueva Ecija Medical Center (NEMC) is making it easier and faster for patients to know what’s behind their flu-like symptoms. The hospital’s Clinical Laboratory now offers a new diagnostic service the Qualitative Detection Test for COVID-19 and Influenza A & B, also known as the COVID-19/FLU A&B Rapid Panel.

This test helps doctors quickly determine whether a patient’s symptoms are caused by COVID-19, Influenza A, or Influenza B three common viruses that can cause fever, cough, sore throat, and body aches. Since these illnesses share similar symptoms, the new test is a big help in providing the right diagnosis and ensuring patients receive the proper treatment as soon as possible.

The COVID-19/FLU A&B Rapid Panel is especially recommended for patients experiencing:

• Fever, cough, or colds that started suddenly
• Sore throat, body pains, or fatigue
• Difficulty breathing or chest discomfort
• Known exposure to someone with COVID-19 or flu

With this new service, NEMC aims to improve early detection and proper management of respiratory infections helping protect both patients and the community.
